All my Fruita mountain biking has actually taken place just outside of Fruita, due south of Grand Junction, Colorado. But we began the trip from Fruita itself.
Four of the rides I am introducing were part of a 4-day Hut-to-Hut trip ... which is not the norm, but was a lot of fun.
These rides took place on the Uncompagre Plateau, a huge piece of western Colorado uplifted to elevations near 10,000 feet.
The first mountain bike ride is called: Smith Point, the second is Divide Forks, third is Leonard's Ridge, and the last one is Ute Creek. You can read details on each one of those rides by clicking their links.
The day prior to that trip I rode Wrangler, which lies west of Fruita, and parallels the Colorado River.
To get a better sense of where Fruita's trails lie geographically, please enjoy this custom trail map I made. To get driving directions to each trailhead, select the icon you want and click "Directions."
Have you ridden any trails in or around Fruita before? What did you think of the experience? You can share the story of your trip(s) for all to learn from here, just below on this page.

This site is, in large part, my mtb diary, documenting my mountain bike trips for those interested in reading up before their own adventures. But it's called Diaries for a reason. This site is made exponentially more useful because of your own contributions. So ... got a ride story to share? Please do!
That's me, Joe Unden, your guide on this site. Since 2005 my favorite activity has been mountain biking. In 2011 I decided I wanted to share my biking experiences with others online, to make it easier for people to learn about the trails I love.
You can learn more about me and what has led to this site here.
