Mountain Bike News

The Mountain Bike News is the name of our monthly newsletter. We email this newsletter on the 1st day of every month. The intent is to keep readers updated on what is going on around here ... projects just completed, upcoming events, and plans for the future of Mountain Bike Diaries. You will find each edition of the newsletter divided into the following sections.

Just Finished:

Breaking News Icon

This section of the Mountain Bike News contains all of the items completed within the previous month. These postings might be projects we have been working on for months, or they could cover events happening just previous to the mailing.

Sometimes the final write-up for a ride is not finished for a couple months due to the large number of rides or the time of year. For example, during the summer I go on as many rides as I can, sometimes two per day. Each night, following a ride, I save my photos and video to a hard drive, and make a Google map using my GPS data. At that point I draw up an outline, making notes of interesting events. Later I use these resources, and my editors, to write and rewrite the final pages.

You may have noticed a drop in production in September. That decrease is because most members on our "staff" are either teaching school or attending college. Once we all get into our school routines the production rises back to normal.

So ... "Just Finished" does not mean I recently completed the ride.

Soon to be Posted:

Monthly Calendar
This part of the Mountain Bike News informs the reader about the projects we hope to complete within the upcoming month, or in the months ahead. These additions might be rides I have recently completed or the final draft for events from the summer. I am usually working on several different topics at one time. When a project gets close to completion I mention it in this section of the newsletter. I am human, so every once in a while I announce an upcoming page and I don't get it done.

Video:

Here the Mountain Bike News tells readers about newly posted mountain biking videos. I take video clips on all of my rides. I have found the processing and editing of these clips to be very labor and time intensive. For this reason, the completion of videos may not be in sync with completion of the corresponding story for the ride.

Readers can view the completed videos by either visiting our YouTube channel (MountainBikeDiaries), or to the website page corresponding to the video.

One E-Mail Per Month:

We know people hate getting a million e-mails about things these days. That is why we e-mail our newsletter once a month, and would never consider sharing your email address with anyone else.

So, do you want to sign up? Just fill out the form below.

What is Mountain Bike Diaries?

This site is, in large part, my mtb diary, documenting my mountain bike trips for those interested in reading up before their own adventures. But it's called Diaries for a reason. This site is made exponentially more useful because of your own contributions. So ... got a ride story to share? Please do!

That's me, Joe Unden, your guide on this site. Since 2005 my favorite activity has been mountain biking. In 2011 I decided I wanted to share my biking experiences with others online, to make it easier for people to learn about the trails I love.
